Why Less is Your More

Think adding more to your day will make you successful? What if the real key is taking things away?

Welcome to all of you who have joined in the past few weeks. If you’re opening this for the first time, or you’ve been so engrossed in figuring out your kids new school schedule that you forgot what this is about - I write weekly on insights and tactics around building an incredible network of clients, collaborators, and community.

Before we get going this week, I’d love to hear from you - what are questions or challenges you face when it comes to cultivating connections? What topics would me to cover?

Good morning!

Think adding more to your day will make you successful? What if the real key is taking things away?

We're conditioned to think that "more" is synonymous with "better." More contacts, more skills, more tasks. But here's the kicker: more often leads to overwhelm, not overachievement.

This morning, I’m sharing three ideas that have shifted my thinking over the course of working with thousands of professionals since 2021.

The Power of Elimination

Let's get real. You don't need another magical email script to win over clients. What you need is to identify the invisible barriers that make you hesitate before hitting that 'Send' button. Is it fear of rejection? A lack of confidence in your value? Pinpoint it, confront it, and eliminate it.

Actionable Tip: Spend 5 minutes today jotting down what's holding you back from reaching out. You might be surprised at what you discover.

Morning Routines: Quality Over Quantity

Ah, the Miracle Morning—a sequence of activities that promise to turn you into a productivity machine. But if you're struggling to find time for relationship-building, adding more to your morning routine won't help. Instead, ask yourself why you're not making time for it in the first place. Are you overcommitted? Are you prioritizing the wrong things?

Your Homework: Reevaluate your daily routine. What can you cut out to make room for what truly matters?

Networking: It's Not a Numbers Game

In the realm of professional networking, quality trumps quantity. You don't need to be connected with thousands of people; you need meaningful connections. And to build those, sometimes you have to prune your network. Remove connections that are not aligned with your goals or values. This makes room for relationships that truly enrich you.

Hot Take: If you look at someone and aren’t excited about engaging with them, that’s usually a sign that they’re not the right fit for you. Why make it harder for yourself?

Subtraction is liberating. It frees up mental space, giving you the clarity to focus on what's truly essential. And in a world that's constantly pushing you to want more, choosing to have less is a radical act.

Remember, sometimes taking something away adds more value than piling on ever could. Here's to less being your new more!

Until next time, -Zvi

P.S. Got a friend who's stuck in the "more is better" loop? Forward this email to them. They'll thank you later.
