love the person, not the politics

here we go

I write weekly about the strategies, habits, and tactics around cultivating the connections that matter to you.

It’s Election Day in the United States.

Here. we. go.

For many it feels like civilization hangs in the balance - regardless of which candidate you feel will assuredly cause Earth to rotate off-axis and slam into Saturn.

We’ve all witnessed the really dark trend that has happened in recent years - that our allegiance to any one political issue morphed into rejecting anyone who doesn’t have the same bumper stickers as us.

Hence, my invitation to you, today, and every day forward. Are you willing to take the plunge and be willing to love the person without having to love their politics?

I know, many of you will rightfully parry with something about “I don’t just see how someone could support (completely outrageous claim)” or something about values.

And true, we have to have our own criteria for who we choose to maintain relationships with. Not everyone is invited over for Sunday brunch. But I bet you can find far more fertile common ground if you searched for it, rather than obsess about the differences. Whether you choose to be curious about their decisions, respect that they just have a different life path, or flat out not care at all - that’s up to you.

“I don't like that man. I must get to know him better.”

Abraham Lincoln

A few years back, at the height of mask-or-not mania, a friend challenged me to consider full amnesty in my mind to anyone who had a different take, once the pandemic became past-tense. It wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I did.

Good luck,

“What do I do with my hands?” wasn’t a problem for me.

I’ve spent the past 12 years helping people like you grow their businesses and careers by cultivating the relationships that matter. I took everything I’ve learned and practiced and put it in a professionally produced online course.
